Chelosphargis advena

Chelosphargis advena is one of the more rare species of fossil turtle known from the Niobrara Chalk. This relatively small adult protostegid sea turtle was recovered from the lower Niobrara and represents one of the most complete specimens ever found. The original fossil specimen upon which this reconstruction was based is greater than 80% complete and has a beautiful skull. The fossil is also available for sale, mounted or unmounted, on our sister-site, Dinosaur Sanctuary.
