Skull
(Late Cretaceous, Harding County, SD)
This spectacular and imposing theropod has a very bizarre skull, long arms tipped with large, lethal claws, a short tail, and legs built for speed. The skeleton as shown in a running pose, is 9 feet long x 8 foot high (2.7 meters x 2.5 meters). Discovered by Fred Nuss of Otis, Kansas in October, 1998.
It is an undescribed genus and species, closely related to Chirostenotes (Caenagnathus) only much larger.
A unique dinosaur
trackway was discovered by Mike Triebold in 1997 that was very possibly made by an individual of this type of dinosaur.
