The dire wolf (Canis dirus) has long been an iconic ice age mammal. The dire wolf went extinct with the megafaunal extinction in North America just over 10,000 years ago. This specimen is a reproduction of the dire wolf exhibited in the University of Kansas Natural History Museum and Biodiversity Research Center.
