Discovered in New Mexico in 1986, Seismosaurus was a giant among giants, at over 33 meters (110 feet) long and nearly 5.5 meters (18 feet) tall at the hips. The original specimen is housed in the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science. Recent research strongly suggests that this animal is a large species or individual of Diplodocus.
