This is the largest species of Canis, with some animals exceeding 150lbs in weight. The Direwolf roamed the Americas and parts of Asia until as recently as 10,000 years ago or less, slowly being replaced by the Grey Wolf. This specimen was reconstructed from material found in the Rancho La Brea Tar Pits.
