This is the only known mammal skeleton from the Lancian stage of the Cretaceous. Didelphodon was a particularly large mammal for the Mesozoic, weighing in at around 5 kg (11 lbs.). Didelphodon likely preyed on a variety of small animals, filling a niche somewhere between that of modern badgers and foxes.
