Thalassodromeus was a large pterodactyloid from northeastern Brazil, named in 2002 by Alexander Kellner and Diogenes de Almeida Campos. It is from the Early Cretaceous Santana Formation. It not only was a large pterosaur, but had a huge and robust crest, which began above the snout and extended far behind the braincase. This enormous pterosaur may have filled a niche similar to that of the giant azhdarchid pterosaurs that proliferated later in the Cretaceous.

Locality: Brazil
Formation: Santana
