A new, undescribed species, this Plioplatecarpus skull was recently restored by Triebold Paleontology, Inc. and features a wide and robust shape. This unique shape makes our Plioplatecarpus skull resemble more closely in proportion the modern terrestrial varanoid reptiles (snakes and lizards) that are the closest living relatives to the mosasaurs.
