INTRODUCTION
Body was mostly in the float. The rest was piled up under the rear of the skull so preparation is very time consuming and mostly under the microscope. Skull is intact but we can’t prepare the upper rear portion of the skull without flipping the jacket because there is literally a pile of bones over that area. Once flipped, it revealed itself to be an immature male, as the males had a large crest while the female crest was just a tiny nubbin.

Skull and lower jaw are articulated as in life. Approximately 3-meter wingspan.

Image of the skull and some post-cranial upon initial prep. Several bones were preserved lying under the skull, including the intact notarium, scapula-coracoid and more. Skull and lower jaw are complete to the tip, not yet exposed in this image.

Bone map: This drawing shows only the known preserved elements of the skeleton. There are at least a few more, to be revealed upon flipping of the specimen to prepare the other side. The missing elements for the mount will be 3D printed, sourced from the TPI proprietary digital library of Pteranodon bones.

Shown here is a panel mount of a nearly 7-meter wingspan male Pteranodon panel mount TPI produced, which demonstrates for you the appearance of our panel mounted Pteranodon specimens. It is built in separate panels, which are connected and seams eliminated upon installation.
